Compatibility Pack For Microsoft Office 2007
Office 2007, Microsoft's "revolutionary" new Office Suite uses a whole new file system for saving your documents, spreadsheets and presentations. This is the first time the file format has changed since 1997 and is based on the Open XML file formats. The new format supposedly "improves file and data management, data recovery and interoperability with line-of-business systems." But some of you have not upgraded to Office 2007. What do you do if your associate sends you an Office 2007 file (e.g. with the .docx suffix)? By installing the compatibility pack in addition to Microsoft Office 2000, XP or 2003 you will be able to open, edit and save files using the file formats new to 2007. Download
Mogo Mouse http://www.newtonperipherals.com/
"MoGo Mouse BT is a business-card sized, 2-button, Bluetooth-enabled mouse that stores and recharges neatly inside your laptop computer's PC Card slot." I recently purchased one of these mice for my laptop and I like it because it fits right into your PC Card slot so you don't have to carry an extra device with you. If your laptop has built-in Bluetooth you don't need an extra dongle, if not, they sell a tiny little "MoGo Dapter" that will add Bluetooth functionality to your system. They also have an Express Card version that fits into newer laptops with the new Express Card slot. The extra bonus of that mouse is that it adds scroll functionality and works as a wireless presenter that you can use with PowerPoint or other programs! Let us know if you would like one and we can order for you!
Budget Software Savers
Software such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite and Norton AntiVirus are industry standards…and expensive. If you're on a tight budget and not afraid of working without telephone support from the software vendors, consider open source software, a.k.a. free software. Developed by programmers all pitching in together, open source programs let you create files in standard formats at a price that is hard to beat. For image editing, there's “The GIMP” at http://gimp.org. The office suite at http://www.OpenOffice.org offers a word processor, a spreadsheet program and more. AVG AntiVirus http://free.grisoft.com is a fast, easy to use, effective and free antivirus program. How many antivirus programs can claim that? Pdf9995 http://www.pdf995.com makes it easy and affordable to create professional quality documents in the popular PDF file format for free, simply by selecting the "print" command from ANY application.
XP Lives On
Microsoft released Windows Vista more than nine months ago and it failed to WOW most of us. Bowing further to pressure from OEMs and consumers, Microsoft has extended the life of Windows XP, which was due to end sale to OEMs on January 1st 2008, to a new date of June 30th. That's real good news! Read on...
