Windows Vista: Yay, or Nay?
At Beanstalk Computing we have been extensively testing Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows Vista. In our opinion, this operating system is not ready for prime time and we are not recommending it to our customers… yet.
The main reason we don’t recommend Vista at this time is due to compatibility issues. A lot of software needs to be rewritten to be compatible with Windows Vista, and it takes time for the software manufactures to catch up. Also, a lot of hardware drivers are still being rewritten for Vista, so there is a good chance your printer, camera, PDA, or other device is not yet compatible with Windows Vista.
Finally, before Microsoft even released Windows Vista earlier this year, they announced a major service pack to fix all the bugs. This service pack is due to be release at the end of the year (2007). Until that service pack comes out, Beanstalk Computing does not recommend upgrading to Windows Vista.
But what do you do if you need a new computer? If you walk into a retail location, you will be forced to get a computer with Vista. Instead, talk to Beanstalk Computing for options on getting new or refurbished computers with Windows XP on it. Give us a call for a quote!
