Beanstalk Computing celebrates its first anniversary in the San Diego area this month and we thank you for your continued support. We also appreciate any feedback you may have and look forward to serving your computer needs now and in the future.

Quick Tip 1: Blind Carbon Copy in Outlook (BCC)

If you want to send a message to several recipients and don’t want them to know who else received a copy of the message, you can use BCC or Blind Carbon Copy. If you add a recipient's name to this box in a message, a copy of the message is sent to that recipient but that recipient’s name is not visible to other recipients of the message.

By default, CC is shown in new messages, but BCC is not. To turn it on permanently, start a new message, click the arrow next to the Options button, and then click BCC. Now you can use BCC in all new messages that are sent out!

Bigger Computer Repair shops fail to make the grade

The San Franciso Chronicle reports that “Some of the biggest computer retailers failed to make the grade in a new survey of Bay Area computer repair shops. CompUSA, Fry’s Electronics and Best Buy all scored near the bottom based on overall performance and quality of service.”

This is good news for smaller shops: “independent service businesses of any kind have to depend on satisfying customers and customer referrals” more so than the chain stores. This means that people who are dissatisfied with the conglomerates can go to smaller shops, such as San Diego’s Beanstalk Computing of course!

Quick Tip 2: Send large files to friends for free

Want a quick easy free way to send your friends large files via email? Send up to 100MB files for free, or 1GB files for 5 dollars a month. Easy, quick, you send it! Click here

Computer Viruses

Computer viruses are software programs deliberately designed to interfere with computer operation, record, corrupt or delete data, or spread themselves to other computers and throughout the Internet, often slowing things down and causing other problems in the process. Just as human viruses range in severity from the 24-hour flu to global pandemics, computer viruses range from the mildly annoying to the downright destructive and constantly mutate into new and previously unseen forms. The good news is that with an ounce of prevention and a little knowledge, one is less likely to fall victim to viruses and it is possible to diminish their impact. Please contact Beanstalk Computing regarding how to implement your antivirus solution.
